Ancona Sea Celebration Day
Being Ancona a town born and developed around the sea, it couldn’t lack a celebration dedicated to it. Every year, on the first Sunday of September takes place the Sea Celebration Day that consists in a folkloric procession of hundred boats that starting from the port go to the open sea in order to celebrate the sea victims with a religious ceremony.
In the city and particularly in Archi neighbourhood – a symbol of Ancona marine – take place events, parades and music concerts. The celebration day ends with the long-awaited fireworks event, mirroring in the port waters. You can see it in the picture above.
The Ancona Sea Celebration Day is organized by the City Hall, the Harbour Office, the Marche Region Governance, the Ancona Province Governance, the Chamber of Commerce, the Port Authority, the Territorial Committee Sea Men Welfare and the Stella Maris Association.
